The assessment provides recommendations for guiding mitigation efforts and investments in measures like defensible space, fire-resistant construction materials, and vegetation management that should be implemented BEFORE a wildfire. People living in Helena’s wildland-urban interface can and must take primary responsibility for wildfire safety actions around their home. Through a community assistance grant from the city of Helena, TCFSWG will be launching a new risk assessment and education program in July-2023. The program will offer free home ignition zone assessments and a variety of outreach and education programs. Property owners are encouraged to submit an application for an assessment.
