FireSafe Helena

In 2020, TCFSWG launched a new program, FireSafe Helena, covering the highest risk area of Helena for the purpose of planning and preparing, so urban wildfires can occur in Helena without catastrophic loss. FireSafe Helena is a FEMA funded program that is administered by TCFSWG in partnership with Lewis & Clark County and the city of Helena. The program focuses on reducing the risk and catastrophic losses to resources and private property in the city limits. Mitigation efforts address hazardous fuel conditions, efforts to reduce structure ignition potential within the home ignition zone and the application of wildfire resilient principles to sustain a fire adapted home, property, and community.
